Please join fellow BAWSC participants for a spring hike to get our legs and lungs into shape to hit the water in 2015.
This year the plan is to hike the North/East side of Lake Del Valle in Livermore. We will all gather at the Arroyo Del Valle Staging Area at 10:00 am and hike to Lake Del Valle taking the East Shore Trail off of Arroyo Road Staging Area. It goes along a ridge above Heron Bay and Swallow Bay overlooking the lake and Del Valle Regional Park. The hike is an out and back...and will be approximately 4 to 5 miles round trip. Overall, should take 2 to 3 hours. There is about 1,200 feet of elevation
There is no BAWSC event fee for this event. However the park does charge $6 for each car entering the park and there is a surcharge for $2 charge for each dog that you put into a drop box so please bring exact cash. Please try and car-pool to this event using the club message board to arrange car-pools. Everyone is welcome to meet at my house by 9:30 a.m. and we can then consolidate cars and head over to the trail head at 9:45 a.m.
Please pack drinks and a lunch which we will either eat on the trail or back in the base camp picnic grounds depending how fast we hike. After the hike for those who are interested we may want to head over to Livermore Valley Winery's for some tasting.

After the hike for those that are interested we could head back down the hill to Wente Vineyards and/or other nearby wineries for some wine tasting. Therefore you may want to bring a pair of shoes to change into, etc.

Directions: 580 towards Livermore. Take Portola Ave exit. Drive SE on Portola Ave and turn right on North L Street. After crossing First St., North L St. becomes South L St. and then Arroyo Road. Continue on Arroyo Road past Sycamore Grove and the US Veterans Admin Hospital, all the way to the end. The staging area is on the left. It is $6 to park in the staging area, but you can park in other areas up the road if you are willing to walk a bit. There is no parking on Arroyo Road.

Please plan on being in the park parking lot by 9:45 a.m. .. we will start hiking at 10:10 a.m. sharp so anyone who has not arrived by then will be hiking on their own.

Note: Limited to 25 hikers to keep the group at a reasonable size to keep track of everyone so please register quickly. That said if the event fills-up and you still want to come .. just show-up and tag along with the group.
If there is a 80%+ chance of rain that day in the forecast we will reschedule the hike to a different weekend.
