Event Overview:
By popular demand we have arranged with for a second California Boat Drivers License course at the same low price. This will be the last course offered this year by BAWSC at the discounted rate so hurry before all the spots are filled. Feedback from those who attended that April course was very positive with comments that the course exceeded expectation with great instructors who made it very interesting. Everyone left with some new knowledge of what is required to drive a boat.
The Bay Area Water-Ski Club in conjunction with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Discovery Bay Yacht Club and Fun & Sun Waterski club is offering a one-time course for all BAWSC Contacts to obtain a California Boat Drivers License which is now required to operate a boat in California http://californiaboatercard.com/
Event Details:
This course normally cost over $45 but the USCGA has agreed to offer the course to our 3 clubs for $25 if we can get at least twenty five people to attend with a total room capacity of 60 so each club can reserve 20 spots.
The BAWSC board has further approved subsidizing $15 towards the course for BAWSC members resulting in a net cost of $10 for BAWSC members to attend this course.
The USCGA has promised for this to be a fun and informative course and will do their best to make the day go by quickly and make sure everyone is able to pass the test at the end of the day. Upon completion of the course you will then be eligible for a California Department of Boating and Waterways license. The cost of the card is $10 and good for life.
The USCGA course is also unique in that it is recognized across the entire U.S., Canada and many other countries around the world who require a boat safety courses in order to drive or sail a vessel. You can learn more about the course at: http://www.cgaux.org/boatinged/classes/2011/abs.php

The class will be held in the Bilge Room downstairs.
You are encouraged to pack a lunch for the event or be prepared to grab a very quick lunch at one of the fast food restaurants near by as there will only be a 45 min. lunch break.
